Glenview Kitchen Renovation
Oakland, California

Before
Existing kitchen was small and dark. It didn't accommodate contemporary lifestyle or appliances. The only endearing qualities were some original, 1926 cabinet doors.
New design marries the '20s style of the house with the function of a contemporary kitchen. Cabinets match others in the house and existing glass cabinet doors were reused while MUCH more storage and counter space was included.
The space was opened up to the rear of the house, capturing views to the bay and downtown Oakland. New windows and skylight bring in a great deal of natural light.
Indirect lighting on top of cabinets allow for a ceiling plane free of "modern" light fixtures and a work table in center of kitchen harkens to kitchens of the past.
